IM CRIS US

“I Love this film because it talks about freedom of expression. It focuses on a protagonist who identifies as LGBTIQ+, BUT ANYONE CAN RELATE TO CRISTIAN's STRUGGLE. WE ALL HAVE TRIED TO HIDE SOMETHING ABOUT US BECAUSE WE WERE AFRAID TO SHOW OUR REAL SELF. WE ALL HAVE ACTED. BUT CRISTIAN just wants to be himself, without having to PLAY SOMEONE HE ISN't. The film shows that in a world that punishes those who don’t fit into a so-called “norm” and also discriminates against on multiple levels, it CAN BE difficult to feel free, complete and fulfilled. YOU HAVE TO FIND YOUR INNER STRENGTH. In the end, Cristian - with his black wings - INVITES US TO BE FREE AND FLY.

Director's note

Cristian, an Afro-Colombian millennial from the Caribbean island of Tierra Bomba, must decide whether to continue acting or drop all his masks, and overcome his own fear to live his sexuality freely. Josephine, the director, follows Cristian for seven years across different countries during this quest for freedom.

**A Boyhood-like coming-of-age film about a millennial struggling to give his life meaning and direction, and to be free.**
